Powerlifting Open Workout - Gawain Johnstone

Last week at Kerry Sports, Shangrila at the Fort I saw the Fil-Australian power lifting champion lift the 300 kgs load. Most of the time I just saw people doing heavy power lift in the movie. Lifting car, heavy armed weapons or throwing heavy load or rock to the enemy. But last week it was hardcore muscle power trip at the actual gym.

Gawain mother was a Filipina and have plan to represent both Au-Fil flag in the competition. You may feel that he is a Pinoy by seeing it in his name Gawain that means Work in Filipino. The 180 kgs 6,2" tall strong guy  shows the routine of being one of the strongest man in the planet. I asked him any plans of doing showbiz or WWE? Like Hodor role maybe in the games of thrones. He said never done that but probably in the future why not.

He demonstrated how it was done - armed with that workout headband, wristband, hip and knee pad band trust. You knew that the Hercules or Conan kind of creature is going to lift something heavy heavy load to entertain us. Feel the power as he pushed the Captain Barbell like Pinoy classics up and down.

Without proper training and preparation he said power lifting can be deadly. He demonstrates the basics of the sport. He said had done 440 kgs heavy lift before. He will be competing in October 14, 2018 for Proraw Big Dogs in Melbourne Australia. Which is the gathering of the strongest power-lifters in the planet.

Gawain a former 2009 Junior state Champ and also a National Champ for both 2009 and 2010 in Australia. He likes to promote power-lifting to Pinoys "The pure lifts of powerlifting, meaning the squat, bench press and deadlifts, are the basics of every sport.

“For every sport, there is an element of strength, whether it be power, whether it be endurance, or some level of conditioning. Those three lifts, they all aid every sport that is played, whether it be basketball, boxing, athletics, football, etc.” See the actual power-lift short video clips here.
