Sepang, Malaysia 2014 F1 and Moto GP

I asked questions to Razlan Razali the Chief Executive Officer of SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT in MALAYSIA interesting things about F1 and Moto GP 2014. On our last month meeting at F1 Hotel Manila together with Red Rock Travel Operator William Herrera.

TMS: Due to limited time, If i had only 1-3 circuit of choice to travel for f1 or Moto a year. Why Sepang? Over 19 year round circuit race like Monaco, Silverstone, Yas Marina or others.
Sepang CEO: F1 Sepang offers value for money between PHS and RM. The Malaysian F1 ticket prices is one of the most affordable in the world and provides more value and privileges. A ticket holder can unlock many privileges with the Malaysian F1 tickets and will receive additional discount in shopping to the many brands available in shopping centres in KL.

Furthermore, with Visit Malaysia Year, a ticket holder not only gets to watch the most exciting racing in an F1 season, but to attend and witness the many celebrations organised by Tourism Malaysia. All the events are listed on their official website.

What’s important for a ticket holder especially from Asian countries and from Phillipines, not only the Malaysian F1 ticket prices are one of the most affordable, all other attractions, accommodations, retails and F&B are also value for money as compared to European, Middle Easter countries and our neighbouring countries. You can enjoy F1 Malaysia in totality and not feel to expensive.

Malaysian MotoGP is one of the most exciting motorsport event in SE Asia. Being the only event held and exclusive, the excitement of this event has grown tremendously over the last 5 years. Not only that tickets are extremely affordable, the attraction and excitement at the circuit is synonymous to an International Motorcycle Expo where you can find a lot of things on display.

Both F1 and MotoGP should be extremely attractive to the Phillipines not only to the value for money for tickets and others but it is only 5 hours away and convenient. With the many connectivity to Malaysia from Manila, it is very convenient to come to Malaysia and have a fantastic holiday without being too deep in pocket.

TMS: Great to things to do Pre or Post races in Sepang?

Sepang CEO: Prior to the race weekend, you can enjoy all the attractions available in conjunction to Visit Malaysia Year organised by Tourism Malaysia. Approaching the race weekend, ticket holders have an exclusive area or access to the concert in conjunction to the F1 Gala Dinner on the Thursday, 27th March at the KLCC Twin Towers. At the same venue, the free concert sponsored by Petronas will be held on the 28th and 29th March featuring international performance.

At the track, fans will get to enjoy a free pit walk limited to total 1,500 ticket holders, first come first serve basis and get close to their favourite teams. Throughout the weekend, ticket holders can enjoy the vast motorsport experience available around the circuit such as rallying, gymkhana, drifting, go-karting, ATV and many others. It will be truly a motorsport weekend.

While waiting for the F1 cars to race on track, there will be support races by the Porsche Asia Cup and the Malaysian Super Series where you will see exotic cars such as Ferraris, Lamboghinis, Porsches and others racing each other. There will be an F1 Fan Zone where there will be exciting attractions for the fans and children.

Tourism Malaysia will have their Visit Malaysia Pavilion where everything and anything about Malaysia will be presented so that tourists will get to plan where to visit next after the F1 race.

Immediately after the race, we will have the number one DJ rated by Forbes in 2013, Calvin Harris performing exclusively in SE Asia for the F1. This is his first performance ever and should be a fantastic show.

TMS: Your Top 4 Team finish this year F1 and Moto Sepang 2014 Prediction

Sepang CEO: For F1 it is very difficult, already the first test indicates that the Mercedes Petronas, Ferrari and Mclaren looks strong while the Red Bull is struggling. In a way, this is a good thing as it will make F1 very very interesting and unpredictable.

For MotoGP, I sense that Marquez will dominate with Lorenzo challenging very hard. I can’t see others making head way or challenge enough but we will see during the first winter test in Sepang next week.

TMS: Preparation you make now to make this event remarkable?
Sepang CEO: For F1, we will start making preparations by the first week of March. Through out the year the circuit is being maintained at the highest standards according to both FIA and FIM, the governing bodies for the sport. Hence, after many many years, preparing the circuit for these events are quite easy BUT we are not complacent and will ensure everything is as per required.

TMS:  Your Expectations and Sepang seats occupancy rates?

Sepang CEO: For F1, we are targeting 90,000 spectators on race day Sunday and nearly similar to MotoGP as well.

If you like to know more about F1 and MotoGP you may ask William.

TMS: Why choose RRT or Red Rock Travel Agency over online booking?
William Herrera: RRT as an authorized ticketing agent of Sepang, We develop promotions with the blessing of sepang, to further provide ticket/package buyers additional freebies that they can't get with any other agent or even online.

TMS:  Your Top 4 Finish Sepang 2014 F1 and Moto
William Herrera:  Top 4 F1 Sepang are Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso, Rosberg and for  Moto GP would have to be Lorenzo, Marquez, Rossi, Pedrosa

TMS:  Your clients experience testimonial after f1 tour?
William Herrera:  All clients, especially new fans always never get the feeling of being cheated, the race itself provides more excitement than what they can get/feel when they watch on tv, nothing beats watching the race live, and up close. Majority of our clients always books for succeeding GP tours
TMS: What makes sepang unique/inviting?
William Herrera: Sepang International Circuit is a proper race track, in some areas you can see about 70% of the track which you can't do in
Other tracks, also, the atmosphere is entirely different, Malaysians know their motorsports especially motogp, they just go wild over it. Lastly, GP tickets/packages to Sepang are the cheapest in the entire calendar.
Ill post later more web, pics, video links and discussions with Yamin Shafie the Manager of Sepang Circuit. See my last year's Paddock Club F1 and Ferrari World Tour. So see you this 2014 exciting F1 and Moto GP?
